Music.Hymns to the Night Hymns to the Night is an EP I made sometime in 1999. It was my first attempt at a solo music project, and to be perfectly honest, I don't even remember anymore what software I used to make it. I do remember that I didn't personally perform any of the instruments or vocals. The software was more of an arrangement tool than anything else. It let you mix out-of-the box or imported loops and samples. This collection of songs is the only time I used that software or even software like it. I've included it on the site, though, because over the years I've generally gotten a pretty positive response from people who have heard these songs. Originally, there were a couple of other tracks in this collection, but I've decided not to include them here so that I can present the album as a slightly more coherent piece. Aside from the very dancey "Sing with Me," the overal feeling of the album is downtempo (albeit dated) and is really pretty simple in concept and execution. That said, I think it makes for okay background music or for generally setting a laid-back mood. And, yes, the title of the album was a nod to the Novalis work of the same name.
