Kitomaza!

Join Kitomaza (pronounced, key-toe-mah-zah) in the ultimate battle of good versus evil in this free 2D retro arcade game that pits you against an army of simple, monochromatic space invaders! Wage your war through an unlimited number of levels with the aid of power-ups that bring you shields, rapid fire, extra lives, and even buddies. Be the first person on your block to shout "Kitomaza!" and really mean it.

Just can't get enough Kitomaza? Do you wish there were a sequel, a prequel, a port to your operating system, updated graphics, new level designs, or more power-ups? You can help make all of that happen by donating your skills or donating your money. Even if you can't participate in either of those ways, you can always contact me at dave.caretcake@gmail.com just to let me know your thoughts on ways to improve this game or anything else on the site.

Within the first three months of Kitomaza's release, it has developed a fanbase of over 5000 players; it has been awarded a 5 out of 6 rating on NO NAGS; it has been awarded a 3.5 out of 5 ("Bueno") rating on Softonic; and it has been featured in the U.K. print magazine PC Utilties Magazine, issue 97. So, to all of you who have helped in Kitomaza's popularity and success, I sincerely thank you.

Green Invader Kitomaza is best played on the Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, or Vista operating systems. The hardware requriements are very small — a Pentium II processor, 256MB of RAM, and a video card and monitor capable of supporting an 800 x 600 resolution, should be way more than enough power to play. Linux and Mac users, I truly do apologize that it's not easier to play Kitomaza on your computers, but I do know that Kitomaza can be played on Macs through SWsoft's Parallels. I've tried to get Kitomaza running under Wine in Kubuntu, but I haven't personally had any success with that, not to say it can't be done.

Purple Invader Kitomaza was written in Blitz Research Ltd's Blitz Plus programming language; all graphics were created using the GIMP image software; and all sound files were created using a Yamaha keyboard and the Audacity audio editor and recorder. Kitomaza is distributed under the GPL license, and includes all source code files needed to modify and re-compile the game.
